Schulman, Kalman
(1819-99)
   Polish Hebrew writer. He was born in Stari Bichov, Belorussia, and in 1843 settled in Vilna, where he worked as a tutor. Later he taught Hebrew language and literature in the high school attached to the state rabbinic school. He eventually devoted himself to literary work. His writings, including translations, were intended to spread the Haskalah. He also published a history of Palestine and its environs.
